Talk about a restraint on trade. A lot of people use that bridge. We live far enough south that it's not a problem going to Vermont. Thanks for the info.

Congratulations on your CD!!!
We're going up to Montreal for a Sunday night contra dance in November and perhaps a traditional Quebecois dance on Saturday. Just can't hold off going until Chantz-Vous in Feburary.
We'll miss you at the barn dance. You need to think up an excuse for us to go to Vermont to jam with you.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for keeping me in mind re the French music events up north. I would so love to attend one/some. I will have to talk with hubby and see if there's any chance we can go. He has a cousin in Ludlow VT...is that anywhere near any of these? I recently decided to give my notice to retire but my last working day won't be until Aug. 7. After that, I'm free most weekends. I wish we had more going on here in CT. Are you going to all of them (not counting the one you are actually playing in)? It would be nice to meet you personally and bring my accordions. Thanks and let me know. Jeannette

Thanks, George.
I will be looking forward to hearing from you regarding those music events around New England & Quebec.
I heard of one in Wakefield, RI on Sep. 12. It will be a pig roast with gathering of musicians and their families It will start at 1pm. Sounds like there might be camping around there. It will be a free-for-all kind of music jamming. If more interested, a fellow by the name of Larry Fortin at 401-783-9731 is the one to contact. Thanks again. Jeanette

Hi again, George,
Thought I'd ask you a favor....when you hear of a program that features the French, Canadian folk/cultural music, whether it be in VT, NH, Quebec, etc., can you try to remember to let me know about it? I am still in the work force but hope to retire in September, when I'll have a little more free time. There is not much in CT that I know of so I would perhaps drive to another state for the experience. Not sure if hubby would care to go but for once, he might.
Hope you had a nice holiday time. We did. Take care. Jeannette Lazlo

Thanks for your interesting reply, George. Since I'm not retired, I have little time to pursue my music hobby. I would be interested to know where and when there is a group or event that pertains to Quebec-style folk music on the northern east coast. I met Dan Boucher and his dad through a friend. There is very little going on in CT with this music. Dan is trying to get a music jam going but not sure if it's going to make it at this early stage of the game. Anyhow, if you're ever in this area, it would be nice to compare notes. Take care. Jeannette Lazlo

George,
I also play the button box (by ear). It was left to my mother from her sister. It is very difficult to find other button box (2 row) players around CT. Dan's father plays only the jigs and reels. Perhaps one day we will cross paths through Dan Boucher. I went to his first French jam in Burlington CT last week. Hope it works out for him because the culture is fading fast.

Salut, George!
