Door to door from Ludlow to Burlington is about 1 3/4 hours.
I would surely love to attend the entire festival but that darn "Day Job" keeps getting in the way.
Hi Jeanette. Well its Summer concert season and the Quebec music scene is heating up in my neighborhood so I thought I'd keep you informed as to what I know is going on.July 10 at the Burlington International Waterfront Festival features les Charboniers de l'enfer and le Vent du Nord. At the same festival on July 8 beginning at noon featuring Franco American artist performances. On Friday July 17 our group, Va-et-Vient plays an intimate concert at one of Vermont's premier restaurants, Mary's in Bristol, at 8:00 pm.
On the following day, July 18 Vergennes Vermont hosts the annual French Heritage Festival just 20 minutes from the site of Mary's restaurant.
Jeanette,
I would be happy to send you that information and I will concentrate on the September and beyond time period. September itself is a big month for music that begins with the world accordion festival Sept 3-7 in Montmagny, Quebec just north-east of Quebec City. Then Chants de Vielles Sept 11-13 in Calixa- Lavalee just 45 minutes northeast of Montreal. Both have on site camping.
Hello, Jeanette. Vonnie here. We are sorry to hear of your health problems and hope that the New Year will solve them for you. I agree about traveling in snow and ice - I grew out of the adventure long ago. We still hope to meet up and play with you at some point, whether at the Bristol jam or somewhere else...
Peace and Joy for the coming year.

Nice to hear from you Jeanette. I do get down to Nashua once in awhile for the
session & pot luck held by Benoit Pelletier Shoja. My favorite festivals in Québec where I find the most inspiration are Chantez vous bien chez nous In February and the Chants de Vielles in September. It all began for me at the Champlain Valley Folk Festival in Ferrisburgh, VT back in 89 when I heard Beausoleil and again in 1991 when Ad Vielle Que Pourra played there. After that I began to learn accordion and in doing so came to cross paths with Dana Whittle & Martha Pellerin who lead me down the path of traditional Québec chansons. I've been on that path ever since about 1995. I too learned by ear and continue to do so. I look forward to meeting you someday and sharing some music.
We're not going to make the jam tonite. We have been without power since last Friday morning. It came on about 30 minutes ago but it did that briefly last night.
Vonnie got a shower but the power went off just as I stepped in the tub.
We will reschedule, because we were really looking forward to playing some Quebecois tunes.

Born in Noranda, Quebec. Parents came to CT when I was 6 months old. Lived in CT most of my life. Parents and most relatives now deceased. Miss the good-old-days with the music so I inherited the button box accordion and decided to play it. Now I've made some french music friends. Look forward to meeting more in my culture.
