Vonnie and I are attending the first Franco-American to be held this weekend in St. Albans, Vt. There's going to be some great music! We can only be there for Fri nite and most of Sat. If anyone else is going to be there, we'd love to have a chat, share a meal or play some music (all three would be better yet!)

www.danceflurry.org. Close to New England, but not quite, the Saratoga Springs, New York Dance Flurry Feb. 13-15, 2009 features Reveillons as the Quebecois band at this year's festival. An eclectic mixture of dance and music styles are featured at the Flurry. Check out their website.

Hi John & Vonnie,
Will this Feb. 13-15 event be based on dancing? I am more instested in just listening to the music. Kind of a rough time of the year to travel by car. Keep us informed, however, of any French/Quebec music that you hear of.
My brother Joe said that you folks have set up your own web site for French/Quebec as well?

Bonjour, Jeanette! The Dance Flurry is a mixture of concert and dance events. Many styles of traditional and some contemporary music will be represented. Yes it is a difficult time of year to plan travel. We will be going to Chantez-Vous Bien Chez Nous the weekend after the Flurry. We hope that the weather will be cooperative!!!
No, John and I have not set up a separate website. We don't have computer savvy enough for that anyway. We recently joined Joseph Theriault's 'Chez Yankois' blog. He is now a member of this forum as well.
We hope to meet you in person soon!

The St. Albans Franco-American Heritage Festival is the first of four Vermont Quadricential Signature Events taking place this summer at St. Albans Bay and in Taylor Park in St. Albans City on June 18-20, 2009. We hope you can join us for this family-friendly and free event!

The Lois McClure ->>>
will be in St. Albans Bay!

The Festival will be a large event, focusing on the cultural heritage of the Lake Champlain basin, including a focus on Champlain’s 1609 exploration of our region, as well as on French and Native American history. Planned events include musical performances by Michele Choiniere, Don Roy, Benoit Bourque, the Fiddleheads, Josee Vachon, and the Cajun band Yankee Chank, among others. Other activities include a visit to St. Albans bay by the Lois McClure canal schooner and other exhibits from the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, a living history performance from Chambly, QC, an art show, genealogy, crafters, traditional food, a dinner soirée, a school workshop on traditional culture, an historical walking tour, a scavenger hunt, and dancing, among other activities.
